    I'd counter that by saying the lack of a fuel subsidy in australia and the lack of refining facilities are a main problem here.

    I'm not sure if i can provide a link to an Economist Article from Feb this year. You'll find that we pay similar to Asian countries where there is no Govt subsidy. Its called In a Fix and you can find the article via their website free of charge.
