BTW - Good luck it was only tier 1 issues the company had to address to re submit as discussions and consultations with Greenland officials suggested. Bloody hell - we could be waiting another 3 years if full or further details were required!
Get the feeling something else is going on behind the scenes - it's not bloody rocket science - not like the world has never had mining operation or a tailings dam/wall to a 99.9% failproof level.
Again BTW - what are the statistics globally of tailings wall failures - yep very very low because of short cuts in less compliant and corrupt countries - but yes disastrous given the downstream populous that GGG does not have. Siesmic shift technology is there - along with 3 or 4 contingency plans - mine sites are crawling these days with enviro peoples from fauna - wildlife and yep - serious contaminent leakage/spillage -- It's not like - we have a tailings dam - if it breaks we're ucked - companies have contingencies - it's so easy to make a temporary new tailings dam wall inside the paramaters of an existing one in the event it is showing decay and needs serious maintenance. What has occurred in the past re tailing wall failures and sadly will in the future is company negligence in poorly regulated countries - even here - orio under EsomethingA in kadu had issues - strange how that name bobs up many times in disasters.
Worked on many a open cut mines and seen many inpit slips minor and major from poor wall gradients and host ground - continued blasting that would see huge slips - burying millions of dollars of machinery - no one hurt - simply - because it's controlled - blasting only occurs in daylight hours - evacuation and no production until all clear given - it's just not rocket science.
It's a dangerous industry and so regulated these days - more people at your local council would have more LTI.
Anyway - having a ball on the market lately - been an extended happy hour today. GLTAH, Pull ya bloody finger out Dr Mair and deliver.
