    Hi Dingo59,

Ten years of losses should be enough to make anyone suspect your broker's prowess. AVR as posters here have pointed out is a speculative stock. My take is all stocks are speculative to a large degree depending upon profitability. And, as always said past profits are no guarantee against future losses.

With that in mind and, this is not advice, perhaps stocks with less capital gain potential, high yield and pretty much bulletproof is worth considering, such as patent attorneys QIP or IPH. These stocks give plenty of indirect exposure to the biotech sector, internationally and domestically, with the bonus of being consistent profit generators. QIP, for instance, trades at a 7% ff yield, historically based. Boring against AVR, but has capital gain potential and yield. Bell Potter's analyst has a 12 month price target of $1.55 against about $1.03 now. IPH's yield is about half QIP's historic. They could be good hedges against the biotech/medtech sector where all must pay the piper to protect their precious IP regardless of its potential success and company share price.
