    Just Me Stop focusing on Mi per HR of charge. I understand why it is important but it has tremendous down side. First read Tesla's owner manual. Over using the super charger voids the battery life warranty. You can use it about once a month before time is taken off warranty. Next High charge rates decrease Cycle efficiency using Super charger can reduce Cycle efficiency below 50%. which on a, well to wheels, basis makes it cost more and Generate far more CO2 per mi. than any HEV and even a few pure ice vehicles that get 35 + MPG. To match the Leaf Tesla had to reduce the ER +, charge rate to 5 MI / HR. and cut 0 -60 by more than half. Does that say anything to you about the effect of Charge rate and power draw on Batteries. and their charge discharge efficiency cycle efficiency?

    If you are going to talk charge rates make sure you have an understanding of the down side of fast charge.

    Yes batteries can have cycle efficiency of up to 99% but that is taking a day or more to charge them and taking the power out very slowly. About 4 X faster than the charge rate. Right now because of this High powered Hybrids are a better solution in most applications. There will be many advances in batteries that help BEVs with this problem. These advances will also help HEVs which right now are hurt by cycle efficiency as well. This is why I think the change over from HEV to BEV is still at least 10~ 20 years out. Barring special situation's like inner cities and countries like Iceland and Norway where BEV is the right choice now. HEV on a Per mi basis cost less to operate and generates less CO2. The ER + does generate less CO2 but do you find a 5 Mi / hr of charge practical? Hybrid still cost less using 21 Cents / KWH for electric and $2.40 Gal for gas.

    HP Hybrid = Motor voltage over 250 volts. Best at 500 V ~ 750 V and Motor power over 100 KW. E motor power at least 50% of Ice motor. Better at 100%. Not a plug in.
