5G Networks currently operates and manages an extensive range of digital hosting platforms, a nationwide MPLS network connecting all capital cities and major regional areas across Australia and a full suite of managed service capabilities.

The Role:

As a Senior Network Engineer you will be involved in the ongoing support, design and implementation of both internal and customer network infrastructure. You’ll be involved in exciting projects such as building new enterprise and data centre networks and upgrading core network devices – switches, routers and multi-tenant firewalls. You’ll also be responsible for reviewing and actioning change and problem requests and participating in technical projects to ensure our network functions with the utmost efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support and manage network devices
• Troubleshoot network problems and security violations
• Perform rostered on-call duties, willing to work on 7 day roster
• Create and maintain system and project documentation
• Perform network implementations for internal and customer projects
• Make and implement recommendations for improvements to the network environment
• Accept and resolve customer requests in line with service level agreements
• Maintain a currency of knowledge with respect to relevant new technology, equipment and systems

Skills and Experience needed:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working with enterprise/ data centre technology
• JNCIS certification or equivalent industry knowledge/experience
• Experience managing Juniper and Cisco switches, routers, security devices
• Experience with Juniper MX and SRX series routers and firewalls
• Working knowledge of technologies like MPLS , BGP , SDN , SD-WAN
• Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Able to transfer knowledge and stay aware of current trends and technical advancements
• Experience working in autonomous role
• Proficient in technology solution design and implementation of network projects
• Flexible approach to deal with the needs of a fast paced, customer focused, technology driven IT organisation
• Hardware load balancing experience is desirable
