I think u r on the right track about the broker and a small spec like AAR and this is why I keep wondering all the time and keep bringing up the issue because I think it is a big thing!
Brokers may not only buy/sell for clients but also for funds. Some of us, when applying for a new super fund would tick the level of risk desired and some will probably choose the high risk or medium risk assets.
The fund manager then allocates the money to what they see fit according to the firm risk grading and specs are sometimes part of that high risk portion.
If this is the case that a broker is buying for a firm or a fund or themselves, this is what the top shareholders list is made for. Lol
