Taxpayers who actually pay tax would be absolutely mortified at a blank cheque policy that could cost tens, even hundreds of billions of dollars, especially with no guaranteed benefit.
Of course, those who don't pay tax couldn't care less, and are more interested in the handouts they might receive or the welfare benefit increases.
