    bundalee,
you do realise it is akin to a sin...to actually post a message that is the opposite to the bear theme, on this forum

it is the opposite to the theme...promoted here...
how dare you, go against the theme

and it goes against the odds..that the majority have,on this forum.... after consulting their own crystal balls.....

but never mind....the majority of Australians are on your side...
they are happily living their lives, snug in their homes, whether with a mortgage or not....
A mortgage is no big deal... it is similar to paying rent....
then after a few years..between 5-10, a mortgage works out cheaper, then renting....depending on the individual circumstances....most within 5 years....
plus the majority know....they have all that extra equity....
it is like a great saving plan.....

with my first home purchase....we lived life to the fullest, we partied, entertained family and friends, we renovated here and there, we indulged our hobbies, raised our children, educated them....
at the same time, we also progressed our careers, then went on to self employment...

much the same as the majority of Aussie families...for the past 100 or so years...

I don't get what the problem is out there today....

its like nirvana, compared to what we had to overcome.....

did we indulge our offspring too much....that they feel the need, to have a live in nanny....
or to live in a nanny state ?

did we over indulge them...gave them surreal expectations

or did the education system let them down...?

or are we now living with people from very different
cultures, that have never experienced such a high standard of living....that it is so difficult for them to get their minds around ?

apparently one in four aussies, now hail from a different country of origin....
with over 300 different languages spoken

which makes for a huge divergence of ideas, or expectations, for living arrangements...
and home ownership, or renting arrangements...

I would suggest the majority would be seeking a better life, than, from whence, the come from. But at the same time, they may have much higher expectations....versus the gap in their education, and living arrangements in the country they immigrated from...compared to the reality, of what is expected here in Australia.
