Hey Augustus : ) remember Renewable Energy is intermittent. The sun doesn't always shine & the wind doesn't always blow. Just ask Infigen Energy. There are viable applications for Solar AND Offshore Wind AND Fuel Cells. All of them. The great thing about Fuel Cells is that they can produce power 24hrs/day 7days/week / 365. As CFU say 'it's a power station for your home'. Fuel Cells have the potential to replace base-load capacity, but through a Decentralised network (so many 1,000's of Fuel Cells installed in many 1,000's homes).
In places like Northern Europe, they don't get alot of sun so Fuel Cells are the most viable system.
