It may seem a major crime for a priest to do such a thing. We kind of expect that 1 person in every dozen or so will thieve when an opportunity arises. There's been a thief in every place I ever worked and in every company I owned, but a priest is just an ordinary person playing a role. The only difference is that he has chosen a life of make-believe and must pretend to be something he isn't. The ordinary, conniving human is still there under the silly clothes.
It's everybody's fault for allowing people to pretend to be holy and become priests when they could be worthwhile members of society and for filling the world with poker machines so that the vulnerable remain victims and the greedy grow fat syphoning away the wealth of those who can't afford to lose money.
Everybody has a vulnerability. All you need to do is exploit it.
