I think online shopping has got a massive boost with all the free publicity and newspaper space given to it thanks to Gerry Harvey. Have been plenty of newspaper articles pointing to online sites and the savings that can be made (which far outweigh just the GST aspect). It's been going on for years, I bought a laptop online from the US about 6 years ago and saved over $1500 even including freight and customs hitting it with a duty...that was when the dollar was weak. Nowadays it's bargains galore. Haven't been ripped off once.
