There have been rumours that KKR and Co and The Blackstone Group are looking at AMP. These private equity groups have the balance sheet to take it with ease.
Both these groups have offices and reps in Aus and have both been active here. Both have the ability to do a full takeover.
So as the day counts down to Aug 13th we have to wait and see who, if any potential suitor, steps up.
In the past there was Maq Bank along with a couple of other groups in unison looking, however now that AMP is cleaner and leaner and with a huge wad of cash in the bank, AMP looks open to many more parties looking to buy as its in prime position now 'more than ever'.
Now more than ever is the phrase that sticks in my mind.
My opinion only and even without a buyer, I really look forward to Aug 13th.
