Roll on 2012. Thats when one of the most the egregious policies of the Howard years can hopefully be unwound.
I never bought the arguments around 'aspiration' and 'choice' peddled by Howard to justify such a vast misdirection of public money. i thought Labors failure in 2004 was a consequence of Latham, not a policy to rebalance excessive largesse.
Politically, with so much evidence now of the excesses of elite private schools and with Gillard and Rudd prosecuting the case, another Labor tilt in this policy area would be welcomed by the majority i think.
