This article is a Load of Drivel:
1. Spurr was using the university email system for which there are clear rules and regulations. The Murdorcs at News of the World were hacking the voicemails of private citizens including a murdered schoolgirl, potentially interfering with the investigation. Perhaps this key difference is lost with the nincompoops of the right.
2. The man's academic work is affected by his views quite clearly. He makes many comments regarding the appearance of non-anglocentric literature on the curriculum review. These views are further expressed more bluntly in his 'personal' emails than the documents he produced, but nonetheless he is an extremely biased racist individual.
3. He is a chauvinist who dabbles in some particularly ugly pro-rape rhetoric in one of the emails.
I'm thinking the author of this article is hoping that nobody has actually read Spurr's emails. They are absolutely vile, and extremely relevant given his position.
