I have been reading your posts and I think even 10 years ago I would have been agreeing with you completely. Your right the science is close but still needs work.
Your also right that piplines, ships etc will need to be changed and built.
I fully conceded there are hurdles.

For me what has changed is
1)increase in world population/ more people able to afford a car combined with the decrease in oil reserves .

2) Oil companies knowing that there is less oil which has forced them to no longer squash any possible alternative and to even start investigating the alternatives. (This is main one)

3) The green push (I am not sold on this point)

What makes this decade different is that real research is happening that is properly funded without oil companies blocking it
