Yes this is true, that ship is a pilot. Still, even the full scale GEV ship could only carry 2000 tonnes of hydrogen, energy equivalent to about 5500 tonnes of diesel. So, the full size GEV ship could only carry about 2% of the energy that a conventional VLCC carrier could. Inherently, hydrogen has a very low volumetric energy density and this makes it difficult to transport economically by ship.
