    Project description

In April 2021, the proponentsannouncedsigning of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-operate and proceed with the development of the proposed HyEnergy zero carbon hydrogen facility (“HyEnergy”) to be located in the Shire of Carnarvon, in the Gascoyne region, in Western Australia.

The Project would be developed phases totalling up to 8 GW in installed renewable energy capacity, to be owned by Total Eren, and downstream assets to be equally owned (50/50) by Total Eren and Province.

The Project is proposed to generate550,000 tonnesof renewables-based hydrogen per annum.

In August 2021, it was announced that Global Energy Ventures Ltd (GEV – now called Provaris Energy) had entered into a MoU with the proponents to undertake a feasibility study to evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of exporting green hydrogen from the HyEnergy Project. The scope would include transport from the onshore hydrogen gas production facility to an offshore ship loading buoy and then on to nominated Asia-Pacific markets utilising GEV’s compressed hydrogen shipping solution.

In September 2021, GEVannouncedthat it had received up to AUD$300,000 in funding under Round 2 of the Western Australian Government Renewable Hydrogen Fund (feasibility study) to be applied to the feasibility study for the HyEnergy project.

In December 2021, GEV provided anupdate on the state of the feasibility studyand noted the project design phase (project plan, controls and delivery schedule) was completed with work to commence on the facilities integration workstream in January 2022. There are four workstreams in total, with completion scheduled for the June quarter of 2022

In December 2021, the Western Australian Governmentannouncedthe project would receive Lead Agency Services from the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.

In May 2022, Province Resourcesindicatedthat the HyEnergy Project MoU with Total Eren had been extended to 31 July 2022.
