Conversion efficiency of electricity to H2 is currently very low, there are also issues of H2 loss in transport further reducing efficiency. These will need to resolve for H2 to compete with EV IMO. The only way H2 makes more sense than battery EV on an electricity efficiency basis is factoring in large transmission costs of renewables... which is required anyway to decarbonise the grid. H2 for commercial/trucks makes a lot of sense. either way as BMW say in article, all options are needed and green H2 project is not dependant on H2 in auto. all IMO
