The WA Government is now in the process of appointing an Executive Director Green Energy in the Department of Water & Environmental Regulation. This will likely be a substantial appointment in the first quarter of 2023, and the successful candidate will no doubt have significant influence over hydrogen developments such as HyEnergy (which already has lead agency status with the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science & Innovation, giving higher levels of access and priority across all government agencies) and influence over whatever else TotalEnergies might have planned for Australia once it takes full control of Total Eren in 2023.
This director will head up a whole new unit:
“...The Department is excited to be leading the establishment of a Green Energy assessment unit, a cross government initiative driving the delivery of green energy solutions for Western Australia through clear, fit for purpose assessment and approval pathways that deliver strong environmental outcomes for the community and future generations. This new team will consider a range of green energy projects including conventional wind, solar and wave generators, energy storage, hydrogen industries and lithium mining.”
