Gas pipelines provide another major benefit: storage. Green hydrogen created during the day – when demand for electricity is lowest but solar in particular is at its most potent – can be dumped into the network for use in the evenings.
To that end, the McGowan Government has set a target of hydrogen comprising 10 per cent of all gas piped into WA homes by 2030.
