It's totally clear now, Andrew Forrest and FMG are on a mission to ensure Australia doesn't miss the opportunity to lead the world in green hydrogen.
He's having to educate, lobby and negotiate with the politicians to crystallise the billions (not millions) of dollars of investment required and more importantly make them understand the importance of the incredible speed this transition needs to happen at, so that we don't miss the opportunity. The bureaucracy and red tape have to go. There's no red tape in the jurisdictions we'll be competing against in Africa and South America so full government support is essential. He seems to have taken the approach of targeting the states first, a seriously smart strategy. When the feds are still finding their feet and dragging the chain, presenting the environment, employment and economic opportunities at a state level makes sense. What we're seeing now is in effect a road show, state by state, revealing the results. The negotiated billion dollar deals with Queensland and NSW are just the beginning, Victoria has to act and when it comes to WA we all know they will be in the box seat This is a seriously exciting time and could be an interesting few weeks ahead!
