China is our biggest and by far best trading partner. If China wants to sink our economy and send Aussies like you bankrupt , then all it has to do is to ban Aussie imports or at least put a Trump tariff on them.
Uncle Sam wont bail us out because he is up to his proverbials in $25 trillion debt and increasing by the day.
The proper thing for Australia to do is to gradually difersify trade and that means: -processing our Iron Ore & Met Coal into steel -tertiary processing our Alumina /bauxite into castings and cad/cam to suit global needs -process our foods so that we can supply non-refrigerated 3rd world markets -process our raw sugar into alcohol, candy etc for global markets -etc etc.
But of course that calls for a sacrifice by us all: that is to invest long term in our country rather than trashing our lollies on globetrotting, silly imported consumer goods and our workforce doing the hard yards initially like Japan, Germany , Korea and now China have done.
With our "dig it up and ship it out philosophy" and our mines 86% foreign owned, we're the laughingstock of the OECD!!
Let's hope that this Covid-19 is a wake-up call for all those who try idiotically to defend the status quo whether that be economically or politically!
