According to the latest ABS stats for the June Qtr out today, Australians are still buying furniture.
AFR commented on latest data - "Furniture spending was up 22 per cent year-on-year".
Maybe they further broke the category down to just Furniture isolated.
From what I can see in the data.
$1.512bn in June 21 versus $1.670bn in June 22. Up 10.4%
$1.6bn in May 22 versus $1.67bn in June 22. Up 4.4%
Of course we must be aware of the base comp being potentially impact by lockdowns. They fell more into July 21 and Aug 21 so I dont think June 22 has an artificially inflated yoy comp when looking Australia wide.
