Could just mean the patent can't be registered in Spain.

Patent registered in the US in 1965 (not sure if still in force), covers leaching Li from lepidolite using dilute sulphuric acid at temperatures of 140-200C. Opex would be impacted by heating, but far less than roasting at +800C.
Efficient and cost-effective Li extraction is the key to unlocking Cinovec's value. I look forward to the company providing updates on processing alternatives in the near future.
