YUM foods (the franchise owner who CKF pay royalties too) was for created by PepsiCo as a way to compete with Coke. That is the only way it could compete. By legally binding popular fast food business to sell Pepsi not Coke. Interesting history read it up. If KFC, TacoBell, Pizza Hut etc were to not sell Pepsi then PepsiCo would die in the butt.
Not sure how much of YUM PepsiCo still owns but if its still a big chunk then you wont see coke at your local KFC for many years still.
