    misterh, thanks for that. A new type of motor without REE. But the current generation of electric vehicles don't use REE motors either, relying instead on N. Tesla's asynchronous a/c motor. Used in the Tesla (naturally) and the Leaf, plus Toyota's new RAV4 hybrid.
