Resources industry still driving WA economy: chamber
The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia says the resources industry will underpin the Western Australian economy until 2015.

The chamber says the Access Economics report released yesterday was not all doom and gloom.

Chief executive Tim Shanahan says the report supported its view that prices for some minerals would increase or stay high in the medium term.

Mr Shanahan says companies see commodity prices staying strong for longer and are therefore making significant investments in mining.

"The companies are certainly putting their money where their mouth is in terms of their belief that the commodity cycle and the strength of commodity and resources is going to be quite buoyant into the medium term," he said.
