The company patented retractable products that work by automatically retracting and locking the needle into a body chamber after use.

The needle is drawn back as a result of a vacuum within the instrument. As a result, the instruments are rendered inoperable and safe to throw away.

The devices are used in exactly the same manner as conventional products with the same simple operation, in most cases using one hand.

The designs allow for the interchange of needles using the international Luer connection.

The devices are constructed in mouldable plastic. Unlike competitor safety syringes, there are no cumbersome springs, levers or sheaths, and this will translate into a lower cost of production for Medigard.

Importantly, because of the operation of the vacuum, any fluid still in the needle is also drawn back and not expelled into the air.

Medigard has developed its range of vacuum retractable devices but plans to build upon its innovative designs to produce variations of both the syringe and cannuale.

This will allow the company to cater for different market segments around the world.

In addition, as a design and development house, Medigard will source new medical device products and bring them to market thereby strengthening its product portfolio.
