Hi KOH - yep Kalahari Minerals 42% stake was the 'strategic' one the Chinese took, RIO had a big holding in that, then RIO sold them their direct 14% stake = 56%

The Chinese made their offer to Kalahari subject to getting 50% but once they had RIO on board it was a done deal.
Once they had it 'in the bag' the Japanese earthquake arrived so the Chinese saw the opportunity to lower the bid which they did by approx 7% to all parties & still got it across the line.
RIO of course was hoping for some action after handing over their stake/s i.e. process Husab U at RIO's Rossing mine next door BUT as far as I know that didn't happen & Chine aka CGNPC are building their own project which started in April 2013. It is a 10% Namibian Govt & 90% CGNPC project
