    Hot dry rocks is still a developmental technology. There is a risk that it could take decades to overcome whatever technical hurdles lie on the path to commerciality. My bet is it will be much quicker.

    PTR has done a lot to derisk it's HDR projects for shareholders, the innovative geological model to target shallower rocks, the proposed HEWI concept, farmout to BPT, and geographically into Spain.

    But PTR has moved beyond that, into conventional geothermal in Tenerriffe. This is proven and commercial technology. As well as being insurance against early failures in HDRs, this should provide experience, expertise and credibility to feed back into the HDR work.

    Imo PTR is a cut above the other ASX geothermals. Imo in these developmental areas you either trade, or you (successfully) pick winners and apply heaps of patience, preferably buying at the right time also.
