I seem to recall a prominent politician who abandoned his son at birth, a healthy perfect baby boy, not a profoundly disabled child with Edwards syndrome. Although as it turned out, it wasn't his son but someone else's son as his girlfriend was playing the field. His comments on the matter were

"I was psychologically unready for parenthood - that is the sad truth about me at that time. I just wasn't ready for it."

I would not criticise Prime Minster Abbott for the decision he made, nor would I criticise Professor Triggs for the decision she made.

Some moral consistency from the right wingers on here would be helpful.
