Yep, that is true. I didn't see anyone jump out of a window but it was in the papers at that time. I did see men and women crying in the public gallery of the Perth Stock Exchange (where you could watch the "chalkies" marking buying and selling prices on the big boards).
And I know how the jumpers and weepers felt - but I survived.
