Credit Situation in Britain - the news has been out there for a while. Perhaps Australia is a bit slow in reporting this.

Housing Crisis - is an ongoing problem. Analysts are predicting at least another 20% drop in price. These issues are heavily debated for months. So nothing new here too.
As for Credit Card and Consumer Crisis - have been hearing these too for a while. The shock factor is almost gone. As the banking system in US has not collapsed - things will return to normal eventually.
