thanks and that was more a simplistic view, and probably giving the government more credit than due..a more cynical complex view below....
there is no real difference between online games of chance and Tattersalls, but you can play Tattslotto and the like online. Tattersalls have the overlying veil of being a charity as well as paying big taxes to the government...but underneath all that it makes huge profits which the foundation members are fighting about currently in its proposed ASX listing.
So why is it not legal in Australia to play poker and blackjack online??? Well it would be that the physical casinos are fighting tooth and nail to protect their turf and profits rather than any social conscience of our government...
On our government's social conscious...if an industry will pay big enough taxes then all social responsibility of our government falls away...just think about the proliferation of Casino across Australia over the last decade or so, or tobacco, or alcohol ..they'd even legalise dope and soft drugs if it were not so much a political dynamite move and kill the government of the day...
