I don't see the new subsidy system being problematic for families until they have a combined income of over $250,000 - even then, because of the higher minimum cap ($10,200 up from $7,500) you could argue that they are not really worse off overall until earning over $300,000. We're talking about a very small slice of the population that are earning that kind of money while having kids aged under 6 I reckon. As you say, if you are earning over $300k as a family you aren't really going to pull back on childcare too much.
