Not once have I advocated getting rid of Virgin. What I advocate is a level playing field for QANTAS, Virgin and their foreign competitors. Let them compete I say, just on a level field!
As far as cheap airfares go, I don't want to see them go back to $2000 and see only government and business travellers. In fact that is impossible because anyone can set up a domestic airline in Australia. However, do you think that $50 airfares are sustainable? I mean you can spend more on taxi fares to and from the airport than on a 2 hour flight!
So what I want(not restricted to the airline business), Australian businesses to be able to sustainably compete with foreign business on a level playing field. The government has a lot of work to do.
