Raising spawned tuna for the sashimi tuna market(mainly Japanese) is going to be VERY expensive vs the feed lot tuna product now being produced (which is also very expensive even considering the wild fish now caught are already 20-25 kilos in weight) do your sums for the cost in raising fingerlings to 20-25 kilos).The frozen stocks in Japan of feed lot sashimi/sbt is huge even at the present time.Its a very exclusive niche market at the moment( Japan)and unless other consumers acquire a liking for sashimi tuna the old supply and demand rule will apply---the fact that attempts to regulate quotas might just make this fishery sustainable for Japanese consumption will rule out the farmed tuna---the wild product is far superior to farmed fish products in almost every other fishery---farmed tuna has yet to address this issue---far too iffy for my liking and the statement that 10000 tons of sashimi/SBT will be a reality in 2015 is fantasy---time will tell and i wish you well.
