Emu, not my expertise but in this case they don't have any choice. The optimal production tubing diameter will depend on a whole bunch of things including reservoir pressure, permeability, condensate content etc Even the operator won't know most of this yet. Having said that, a 4.5" production tubing is not unusual and well within the normal range. My guess is that they will want to test their best reservoir to get an idea of potential flow rates, then test intervals that they're not sure of since whether these will flow or not will have a big influence on reseserves.
