Well Moosey I did receive a reply from Lee. I don't think I am giving away anything sensitive by commenting that the crux of the matter was as follows:
'We did invent this before Raytheon, and at least the broad claims in Raytheons patent are considered by us to be invalid. Raytheon did not cite our patent in the prior art list and the US Patent Office did not pick it up either. We have a good case to knock out their patent if it comes down to a fight'.
This seems to be pretty much in line with Mr Brown's post below i.e. it's no biggie - it changes nothing in the short or long term.
