Environmental Clean Technologies CEO Kos Galtos said there will be a keen interest in SCADA and process control systems providers for the Victoria Coldry project in the Latrobe Valley.
Mr Galtos told Projectory that a decision had yet to be made on control systems that would be an integral part of the $400 million project.
He said strong consideration would be given to SCADA technology providers that could offer total cost of ownership.
Mr Galtos also identified opportunities in the project for suppliers of coal belts, variable speed drives and prefabricated metal work.
A formal agreement between the project proponent VCPL - a joint venture of Environmental Clean Technologies Limited (ECT) and TinCom of Vietnam - and the engineering services provider Arup is expected by the end of the month.
The Victoria Coldry project Joint Venture's newly appointed project engineer - a Vietnamese national who could not be named - is undertaking a final review of proposed scope of works by Arup.
VCPL is aiming for the ?design for tender? to be completed by November.
A final investment decision is expected by 2012 following a review of the design for tender.
The VCPL joint venture will design, fund, build and operate a Coldry plant with an initial production capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum, operating from the Latrobe Valley.
The project is targeted to expand progressively over the first decade of operations to 20 million tonnes per annum, subject to rail and port infrastructure development.
The target market is for export of the finished product ? Coldry black coal equivalent (BCE) pellets ? to the Asian market, predominantly Vietnam.
Phase one of the project will cost about $US400 million depending on the detailed design process to be performed by Arup.
The project will employ ECT's proprietary 'coldry' coal processing technology.
