Whenever you'd like to really.
Personally I don't see any reason to convert until a month before expiry. Better the money sit in another stock, or in your bank account, or anywhere else really. The only reason you'd convert early is:
A/ you want the company to get money now
B/ there's a meeting approaching that you want to vote at or
C/ there's a CR announced for holders that you want to participate in
D/ you want your 12 months ownership for CGT discount reasons to begin now because you want out 12 months from now
