People more knowledgable than me will be able to assist, but I believe the electrolyte technology used in this plant is licenced from a US company, and I think I have read that the same company will be supplying the vanadium used to create electrolyte..
Correct that the electrolyte plant and the actual vanadium mine/processing plant are on different timelines. Eventually mine will feed the electrolyte plant, but we're trying to build a vrfb battery market here in Australia, and AVL received a grant to help directly fund the electrolyte plant, so there was some logic in getting it up and running asap, even if feedstock from their own mine is probably a few years out.
