Nick Grealy at Energy Cost Analyst told a summit in Paris earlier this year that Queensland's Georgina Basin is the 'Bakken Shale south'.

In-house estimates of one explorer I'm tracking there indicate the Southern Georgina Basin alone holds approximately 80 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of shale gas.

That's equivalent to 12.8 billion barrels of oil.

Even if drillers only manage to extract a quarter of that amount, it would still be THREE TIMES Australia's current oil reserve of 1.5 billion barrels."
