Cash-strapped mineral exploration minnow Peak Resources Ltd is slashing costs, including employee remuneration, and reducing the size of its board to stay afloat.

The company only had $1.5 million cash on hand at the end of September.

It said in a statement on Friday that its restructure plan primarily targeted non-field exploration costs.


It said the plan will allow it to "proceed without compromising exploration programs".

The board will be reduced from five to three members.

Managing director Mark Maine will accept a base remuneration pay cut of about 30 per cent and take on the role of chairman, replacing Paul Price, who retired on December 31.

The company will increase its focus on gold exploration in Tanzania and make greater use of contractors at its West Australian projects.

Shares in Peak Resources were steady at four cents at 1241 AEDT."
