The new Pm KRudd has given 15m federal money/15m victorian taxpayers money to toyota to help build green cars. Toyota said they were going to do it anyway. A toyota prius costs 38k add 5-9k interest if high purchase and then 7 years later after it's taken 4 years using the average distance travelled in oz of 15,000 km pa to get saving back from car the car is worth what? 25k? by then maybe not even that imo as they aren't that appealing to most.
