b101. Thank you for your comments re what a 1MW generator plant might look like. That was good.

As your graphic Darkie of 416 x 2400w radiators glowing out in the desert on a cold night gives me a good idea of 1MW in action.

I think on listening to the Radio National audio cast posted here the other day Gerry G-W said that GDY would use about 2/3rds of the capacity of the generator for their own needs and that did include pumping. (that's my recollection).

For purposes of their testing they want to keep the generator at full load and providing the excess to the town seemed a nice way to help achieve this. Here, here.
