If something is provable and the proof is repeatable it is considered that it has been explained and established using the scientific method and falls within the natural/known world. Knowing that there is a direct 1:1 correlation between two events is not normally considered adequate proof. One must also establish the mechanism at play that operates to produce the correlation.

If something is unprovable and non-repeatable it falls into the realm of the (currently) unknown or unknowable (the divine).

The unknown does not preclude that it will one day be known and explained based on the scientific method.

However, the unknowable is the realm of belief, normally based on the powers of a supernatural force or being. These events comprise miracles and events beyond explanation in the natural world using the scientific method.

Basically, there are three categories ...... known (explained by scientific method), unknown (but possible to be known - sometimes claimed to be explained by religion) and unknowable (mythos, miracle and realm of religious belief).

I hope you picked up on my intentional oxymoron "explained by religion", as the term "explain" means to employ a rational argument that is testable using scientific method, whereas religion intentionally misuses the term to muddy the waters.

As religion is based on belief in the unknowable divine power it is a logical fallacy (irrational) to claim that it can "explain" anything.

    Thank you
