shares are fantastic. that's why I'm here on HC. But look what has happened to the market in the last week. There is still a nagging question in the back of everyone's mind " Is this correction the big one ?"
the whole thing about res property is diverity. I don't own 14 properties as some do I only have 3 including the one I live in and I'm tossing up about buying a 4th.
Gearing is very important to me and I fear for my fellow landlords who do make the assumption that things will always be as they are. If there is a major crash, and it is possible (though not probable in Australia), I would rather have 4 properties that I own than 14 that I owe 2 million dollars on.
But anyone who is big into shares and doesn't have it underpinned with res property, even if it's just their own home, has rocks in their head.
