I paid $150000 for a house then anoth $100000 to renovate. Sold it then for $300000 ended up maybe $20000 up after 2 years of drama. But the real estate tells everyone I double my money from $150000 to $300000. Am very dubious about the gains in prices we are seeing. I think if all the fees and taxes and renovation costs were taken out the gains are not there.
