    I am one of the fortunate ones to have been made redundant from a management roll in 1998, I was lucky enough to have used my package for leverage to buy investment property in brisbane. The rental returns at that stage were in 7% to 10% range great return in comparison to Sydney at the time an influence in my purchases. I bought 3 BV's at that time ranging in price from 115K to 120K in Cannon Hill area. Today those properties would sell in the $350k to $450k range, a great return for which I feel extremely lucky. I do not believe in negative gearing as it is exactly that, negative. Positive gearing means income.
